For Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary, we present the city’s rich history through the eyes of young Amsterdammers.
The project aims to create a fertile environment in which young people learn about Amsterdam and develop their creative and digital skills.
It involves a series of educative workshops with young people that result in interactive exhibitions at 11 various neighbourhoods around the city. During the sessions, young people (aged 10 to 16) learn to research, photograph and record sound
We have previously successfully executed this exhibition format as a neighbourhood initiative about Amsterdam. It’s great that we had the opportunity to implement these local projects on a larger scale with Amsterdam’s diverse history as the subject of the exhibition.
The exhibitions created by the youths also open a dialogue between different generations and work as a unifying force for Amsterdam society. By learning more about the history of your neighbourhood and seeing the environment through the eyes of young people, people feel more connected to each other and to the city itself.
